Indiana Jones & The Whiny People

In a Utah paper

The setting of the opening scene was the year 1957 on the Nevada Test Site. The scene ended with a mushroom cloud and Harrison Ford rolling out of a lead-lined refrigerator unscathed. It was meant to be funny and some in the theater laughed.

The author gives Indy a hard time because it's insensitive to those who live downwind from the testing sites.    The author needs to remember a few things:

1.  It's a movie.  If movie makers worry about never offending anyone then there won't be any movies.

2.  If you're going to bitch about the scene then bitch about the narrative of how awful it is to have Indy hide in a fridge...or even be involved in a nuclear explosion at all.
