Human Target episode 2: still good!

Yay, a new TV series makes the "keeper" list.

As I said on Friday, Human Target is in that same style as Burn Notice (although cheesier and not as much fun) and a good watch.

There's a lot of Galactica DNA in this show.  This week we don't get Tricia Helfer but we do get the guy that played Gaeta, and Gaeta is looking old.

This week we're on a plane, and "main guy who probably has a name, and it might be Chase" is flying the plane because he's an expert in everything.

That Guerrero guy I liked in the pilot is still on the show, but far less interesting this time.  Now he just eats chinese food and hacks computers, I liked him better when he seemed menacing.

I'm kinda hoping this show is like the early Miami Vice where they suddenly killed the original lieutenant.  I'd like to see that with Chi McBride's character.  Actually, much like Vice and with all the Galactica DNA let's get Olmos in here.

Human Target gets a season pass

I was pleasantly surprised by Human Target's first episode, and I suggest you set the DVR.

It's light, fun, there's enough action and surely the writers have seen Burn Notice.

Much like 24, another Fox shows wastes a BSG alum, this time they don't give Tricia Helfer enough to do.

Doc Cottle also makes a more interesting appearance, and the show has a cool quietly menacing guy named Guerrero I hope we see more of.  Chi McBride shows up in yet another TV show, and he's generic in this one too.  I guess he has a nice development deal or someone has decided he needs to be a star.

I hope episode 2 is as entertaining.  The series will never be great, and Burn Notice does it better - but it's not a bad watch.

24 Day 8: Hour 4 (07:00:00pm-08:00:00pm) Spoilers and Summary

Well 24, I'd like to say it was nice watching you again but it wasn't.  I'm out.

If you've seen any season of 24 since David Palmer stopped being president then you've seen it all.   The only thing they haven't gotten to is getting the Nixon guy worked back in somehow.

The writers are making zero use of the NYC locale, and if that's coming it's too late.

The episode ends with a "shocking" way around a pair of handcuffs.  It's nothing you haven't seen in a thousand movies.

Farewell, Jack Bauer.   My DVR's too full for this.

Tomorrow: "Human Target" earns a season pass.

24 Day 8: Hour 3 (06:00:00-07:00:00pm) Spoilers and Summary

As Hour 3 begins we're on "West 23rd Street in Queens" with Jack.  The "west side" of Queens looks a lot like LA and has the kinds of menacing youths that are normally in TV episodes that take place in LA.

We also spend time with the bad guy cop, and in Jack's world the NYPD wears uniforms that resemble those of the LAPD.   Way to do your research everyone.

I'd love to fascinate you more with details of the episode but it was really boring.  This season of 24 needs to get better really quickly.

Tomorrow:  more made up sections of Queens I guess, in hour 4!

24 Day 8: Hour 2 (05:00:00-06:00:00pm) Spoilers and Summary

Moving on to hour 2 of 24, wow this show is boring.

More of the same old, same old.   Jack is looking to get out but they keep dragging him in.

Shockingly, someone important in 24 is compromised by an outsider.  Never done that!

The "middle eastern guys" are very middle eastern.

Jack heads to "west 23rd and Broadway in Queens."  Nice head Los Angelinos.  We don't have a west side in Queens.

And spoilery spoiler: Aceveda is dead.  So much for that.   Better get Katee Sackhoff something to do.

We also learn the bad guys have a super sleeper so good that he's been in the NYPD for years using his phony American accent, which he drops the second he reveals himself to be bad.   Nice of him to go to the Academy and everything using a phony voice.  The bad guys didn't just recruit this guy, they planned this years ago.

We learn CTU is now in New York, which is convenient because Jack now lives there.

Tomorrow:  Hour 3
